Mostly I've been reading travel guides this month, but I did take the time to reread my (probably) favorite YA ever. And you know what's cool about that? I was struck by it just as much as I was the first time I read it. I adored it. I marveled at the emotion, the phrasings, the magic. The way the setting and Daisy's illness both affect the plot furiously, and yet are these mists that linger around the corners of each page, never giving you ever detail of their existence. My best book for October - and for any month - is Meg Rosoff's How I Live Now.

PANTS ON FIRE by Meg Cabot.
I can't even explain. Just loved it.
I've heard so many wonderful things about this book. My interest is definitely piqued. :)
I bought (and read) this book a few months ago solely because I remembered you saying how much you loved it! I'm glad you got a chance this month to reread something you adore :D
I hadn't heard of this, so thanks for the rec.
Hadn't heard of this one either, but it's on my TBR pile now.
This is one of my all-time favorite books. When I'm on panels at horror conventions, I always mention it as an amazing example of the quality and intensity of young adult fiction. (And yeah, technically it's not horror, but I consider How I Live Now a zombie novel without the zombies. Think about it. And that scene with the foxes? )
Ooh thank you for reminding me of this one! Have meant to pick it up for a while now.
I love when books we adore totally hold up on a second read :)
